Is Open Authority the same as DA or DR?
No. It answers the same question, how strong a domain is, but it's an open score: computed from the public Common Crawl web graph, so anyone can check where it comes from and reproduce it. Proprietary scores use their own crawls and formulas, so the numbers won't match one to one. The Majestic, Chrome UX Report and Tranco ranks in the same row give you a second opinion.
How fresh is it?
We rebuild the index every month from the latest Common Crawl web graph. The current release is cc-main-2026-jul-aug-sep, and 12 monthly releases of rank history sit behind it, so every row carries its 3- and 12-month change.
Why does a small site show no data?
Common Crawl samples the web, and a new or very small site may not be in the sample yet. You still get a row for it, with the Common Crawl fields left empty, and the third-party ranks filled in where they exist. Once other sites link to it and a crawl picks it up, it appears in a later release.
Why do referring-domain counts move from month to month?
Each crawl samples a different set of pages, so around 17% of referring domains change between releases even when nothing happened. Link rows mark them "newly seen" or "no longer seen". For real direction, use the 3- and 12-month Open Authority change.
Can an AI agent use it?
Yes. Add https://mcp.apify.com?tools=crawlplant/commoncrawl-domain-metrics to any MCP client and the agent can look up any domain on its own, for example to weigh sources or answer "how strong is this site?".
